Group Ride + pop-up!
No-drop group ride starts at 8 AM at Cafe Velo!
All are welcome—I hope to See you there :)
Love good coffee and cool bikes? Come hang out at Bellingham’s coolest cafe and raise money for a great cause!
We will be leaving from Cafe Velo at 8 a.m. for a no-drop group ride down the interurban trail and back. The goal is to get to the Larabee State Park parking area near Clayton Beach. However, we will be sure to check in with folks at optional turn around points. Based on the group’s abilities, we will aim to get back to Cafe Velo around 10 a.m. so we can all celebrate with delicious coffees and pastries!
Raising money for the Range of Motion Project (ROMP) is the goal, but let’s have fun building community and talk bikes while doing good! Cafe Velo has generously agreed to donate a portion of their profits from that day to go directly to ROMP. So eat, drink and be merry!
I (Dillen) will be hanging out at Cafe Velo for the day alongside my friends at Loam Equipment—come say hi!
THE ROUTE
We will leave Cafe Velo and ride a few blocks on paved bike paths to get to the South Bay Trail, which will take us to the top of the boardwalk in Fairhaven. We then ride on roads for about 4 blocks before getting onto the Interurban Trail.
Distance: 9 miles one-way (18 miles total)
ELEVATION GAIN: ~500 feet
TRAIL WIDTH: 3ft at the narrowest, majority is 6ft+
TRAIL MATERIAL: Mostly packed gravel, dirt, some pavement
GRADE: Varied, mostly flat with a few steep sections
Alternates: If everyone is able and willing, we can do a single-track switchback to avoid a steep (10-12% grade) road section. There are some wooden bridges here that are narrow and might not be ideal for certain alternative cycles. It is accepted and welcome that those who prefer may walk their bike at any time.
